The Truth Dies Along With the Lies

We finally have a definitive answer. The cy83r14 “ARG” is not officially endorsed by Activision or Treyarch, despite Milo (MrRoflWaffles) explicitly referring to Treyarch as the sender of the briefcase in his possession. He has now added a disclaimer to the descriptions of his “ARG” videos, but unfortunately, it’s a bit late for that.

I’m slightly disappointed in Milo, as he’s usually a straight-shooter regarding the validity of a rumour or leak. Maybe he just got lost in the hype or was fed false information. Regardless, I wish him the best in solving what hopefully isn’t a real-life version of SAW!

The good news is we don’t have to dwell on it. Call of Duty –or Mr Peeks, to be more precise– flicked the switch on the Black Ops 6 Zombies teasers today. The blue rascal entered the “The Truth Lies” television, giving it a Zombified makeover. The Truth no longer Lies; The Truth Dies.

Mr Peeks spared you this time. That’s random acts of kindness.

Changing Channels

Channels 1 and 2 cover the events on Terminus Island. We can see a figure watching surveillance footage of what looks to be our beloved Requiem Heads in their cells. If I were to guess, this was pre-outbreak. The prison officer best be on his A-game; otherwise, I think he may be seconds away from death by Zombie.

Channel 2 is broadcasting a weather report: a heavy storm surrounds Terminus Island. The storm sits before transforming into Mr Peeks, who is making the most of his fifteen minutes of television fame. So much so that he appears for a third time if you dare to turn the television off. Wasn’t he meant to be friendly?!

Channel 2’s broadcast finishes with a shot of Terminus Island, as lightning strikes and a robotic-sounding woman says, “11 6 7 5.” Those numbers might be something to hold on to for later. They remind me a lot of the Ascension numbers from Black Ops 1.

Channels 3 through 6 are currently “off-air.” Channel 6 does have a jumpscare of a raw-looking Zombie, however. If “The Truth Lies” was anything to go by, I’d expect we’ll receive several updates in the upcoming days and weeks before COD Next. It’s Treyarch Season!

Outside the TV

There are a few other things to note. The trailer on Call of Duty socials that led everyone to The Truth Dies is the logo for Project Janus, the nefarious scheme The Director was building towards in the Cold War. Many expected it to be a focal point in Black Ops 6, and this cements the fact. Will we be working for or against Project Janus? Some of our crew may have a vendetta against The Director, so I could see us seeking revenge.  Then again, we all know The Director is a master manipulator.

Richtofen always has an eye for a good logo.

The trailer also features some exclusive footage of what seems to be the original outbreak at Liberty Falls. We can see a young girl fleeing for her life. There’s a decent chance this is Krystal Miller from MWZ, a survivor of the incident. Let’s hope the MWZ finale spares no detail in showing us what happened in West Virginia.

Liberty Falls with thunderous applause.

Everything I’ve seen, from “The Truth Lies” to the Xbox Showcase reveal to “The Truth Dies”, has been outstanding.  As we approach the home straight, with less than three months until launch, it’s clear that Treyarch isn’t pulling a single punch.  Black Ops 6 is shaping up to be the game it’s been trying to make since Black Ops 3: a feature-packed game with each of its three pillars stronger than the last.  Let the hype in—just a little bit.
