Happy 115 Day! To honour the momentous occasion, I’ve given the Aetherium Anonymous poster a bloody twist. It felt fitting.
The news of a new Zombies map so soon after the launch of Citadelle Des Morts is massive. We’ll potentially be playing DLC 2 by the end of January—it’s crazy! In the back of my mind, I hoped Treyarch might have been planning for more than the traditional four post-launch maps, but I wanted to keep my expectations in check. I’m reluctant to assume every season will have a map until Treyarch confirms it, but it puts us in a wonderful place at this stage in BO6’s lifecycle.
Speaking of the lifecycle, we’ve reached the point where everyone turns on the latest Call of Duty. Black Ops 6 has flaws, but it’s still the best COD we’ve had in a long time, particularly for Zombies. Treyarch has responded well to player feedback, even reverting a few patches that didn’t go down well with the community.
Don’t get me wrong, I have my concerns. There’s been zero movement (publicly, at least) in the SAG-AFTRA Voice Talent strike, the anti-cheat issues are piling up, and the Squid Game event with its premium pass is egregious. I’ve learned to compartmentalize that into the “Call of Duty shit I can’t change” bucket. It can be challenging: whenever I hear S.A.M. say, “Smile for the Camera”, I sigh and think of Julie Nathanson’s delivery of the line. I remain optimistic that a deal can be reached and the original voice actors can return, but we’ll see.
I recently decided to delete Twitter from my phone. I plan to post anything new I create on it, but my days of doom scrolling are behind me. I post a bit over on BlueSky, but I’m not spending much time on it either. I think I’m just over social media at this point. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to stay up to date on the goings-on with Call of Duty (and the games industry as a whole, to be honest) without it. I’m sure I’ll figure something out.
As for Shutter Paw, it’s business as usual. I aim to update the site as much as I can with opinions and features about Zombies and beyond. I also plan to review the rest of the Black Ops 6 Zombies maps on YouTube.
